Introducing Dakota Ann Robinson

February 12,2007

By Sarah, CBB News Editor

Former Army supply clerk Jessica Lynch, 23, has been working at a new job this past month - mom. She welcomed daughter Dakota Ann on January 19th, weighing in at 7 lbs, 9 oz, and 19 inches long, and sat down with People last week to introduce her daughter to the world. Some highlights from the interview:

-Unfortunately, Jessica was not awake when her daughter was born. Due to her spinal injuries, an epidural was impossible, and she was put under general anesthesia for her cesarean delivery.

- Jessica on her new role: "I am Prisoner of War Jessica Lynch. I will always be that. But being a mommy will be amazing. I want to see every cry and smile. I want to catch it all."

- Dakota is named for Jessica's best friend Lori Ann Piestewa, who died in the raid Jessica was involved in. "I think about her every day," says Jessica. "Dakota is a Native American word for friend or ally, and Ann was Lori's middle name."

- Jessica and her fiance, Wes Robinson, 25, are moving into their home shortly. Dakota's nursery colors? Camouflage green and bold pink.

-If her daughter wants to be a solider when she gets older, Jessica says, "We'll tell her the story of her mom first, and then let her decide."
